The Clarence Brown Theatre is not just a college campus theatre. We are a professional theatre company bringing world-class productions to Greater Knoxville and beyond, helping to build an awareness of the importance of the arts. Through the CBT Artists Endowment you can directly support the cultural advancement of Knoxville and celebrate this cultural gem.

The CBT Artists Endowment was established to bring guest/resident artists from around the globe to the Clarence Brown Theatre.  Through your contribution, we are able to bring in professional actors, directors, and designers to our stages and our classrooms. These theatre professionals, like Daver Morrison (The Whipping Man) and Dale Dickey (Sweeney Todd, A Streetcar Named Desire), provide our students with the kind of learning opportunities Mr. Brown himself envisioned.

“The mixing up of young actors and designers with first class professionals
is manifestly the only right method of training future theatre artists.”

– Clarence Leon Brown

Years ago, Clarence and Marian Brown imagined a theatre that would enrich the cultural life of East Tennessee and provide the very best in educational opportunities for students in the performing arts. Today, their dream is a reality.
