Henry Wilkinson is proud to begin his graduate school design career with “Master Harold”…and the boys. Henry has previously designed in Greenville, SC and holds a degree in architecture and a minor in philosophy from Clemson University. His first show with the Clarence Brown Theatre, “Master Harold” has been a return for him to some of his earliest memories (he was born and lived for three years in South Africa). Not that his experience of that beautiful country was anything like what we witness on stage, but researching the script provided a much greater understanding of the historical forces at work in the country during his time there. He is profoundly grateful that 40 years after this rainy afternoon in 1950, South Africa’s great ‘social reformer’ had finally been set free. He would like to dedicate this show to his parents, Nelson Mandela, and all those who worked to end apartheid.
